Promoting and Advancing International Labor Rights in Pakistan
This collaborative project aims to provide technical capacity building, legal assistance and advocacy for civil society organizations (CSOs), trade unions, and worker organizations (WOs) seeking accountability for labor rights violations in the garment and textile sector in Pakistan.
Our Activities
- The project aims to provide community outreach to workers, particularly women, providing training on workers’ rights and creating safe spaces for women to report rights violations.
- Beneficiaries will be supported by local paralegals trained on documentation and monitoring, who will hold open legal aid clinics. A hand-held Documentation and Monitoring Tool will embed critical knowledge and support the collection of evidence.
- All these activities will be supported by a cohesive national and international advocacy strategy that will look to move Pakistan’s garment industry closer to other regional successes, such as the adoption of the International Accord like in Bangladesh.
- A multifaceted approach will leverage the consortium's existing network to bring international buyers and other influential stakeholders to the table to support labor rights.
- By promoting transparency of labor rights violations in Pakistan at an international level, this project will leverage each section of the supply chain to facilitate and ensure change for workers in Pakistan.
