Atrocity Crimes Hub

GRC is committed to ensuring justice, strengthening legal frameworks, and upholding human rights in GRC’s areas of operation. We work at the forefront of international criminal law and human rights to advance accountability, support legal processes, and reinforce the rule of law. Central to our mission is a strong commitment to working alongside local partners, empowering them with the tools, expertise, and support needed to drive sustainable justice efforts within their own communities.

Shaping Our Future with Purpose and Vision
  • We have embedded a team of experts within the Kurdistan Regional Government-affiliated Commission for Investigation and Gathering Evidence (CIGE), mentoring and supporting it to organize, analyze and mobilize evidence of ISIS crimes into the hands of States interested in pursuing accountability for these crimes.

  • We have partnered with Seoul-based civil society organizations to identify and increase access to viable justice and accountability pathways by strengthening the capacity to produce effective legal submissions and creating momentum towards international action through strategic advocacy.

  • We have worked to strengthen the capacity of Yemeni civil society organizations in Yemen to document violations of economic, social and cultural rights by all parties to the conflict in Yemen, preparing the groundwork for effective access to future transitional justice mechanisms.

  • We supported the development of human rights compliant legislation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Togo, and Trinidad & Tobago, collaborating directly with local authorities and stakeholders.

  • We prepared formal legal advice assessing potential fair trial rights violations arising from criminal proceedings in Taiwan, reviewing them against Taiwan’s international legal obligations, particularly under the ICCPR, and supplementing the analysis with relevant legal interpretations from human rights bodies recognized as instructive by Taiwan’s Constitutional Court, including the European Court of Human Rights.

  • We developed, in 2021 and 2022, an authoritative legal opinion concerning the international legal framework applicable to the situations in Crimea and Donbas between 2014 and 2022.
