GRC presents papers on human rights due diligence for the firearms industry as the UN Business and Human Rights Forum convenes in Geneva.
As the UN Forum on Business and Human Rights gathers in Geneva, Global Rights Compliance (GRC) is proud to contribute to this landmark moment in advancing Human Rights Due Diligence (HRDD) in the arms industry.
For the first time, the Forum is hosting a plenary session dedicated to addressing the arms trade’s alignment with International Human Rights Law (IHRL). This critical discussion focuses on the responsibilities of firearms manufacturers, investors, and advisers to mitigate risks such as small arms proliferation, diversion, and trafficking—issues with profound human rights consequences, particularly in Latin America.
GRC is actively shaping this dialogue by presenting papers that highlight how HRDD principles—enshrined in the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the Arms Trade Treaty—can and must be applied to the firearms industry.
