Wayne Jordash, Managing Partner of GRC, met today with the Belgian Ambassador to Ukraine, H. E Peter Van De Velde.
They discussed investigating and prosecuting crimes committed during Russia’s full-scale invasion. Wayne Jordash KC provided an overview of the work GRC has done to date in Ukraine, with a particular focus on the work GRC has carried out within the Mobile Justice Teams.
“We assist Ukrainian law enforcement agencies on a daily basis. MJTs are comprised of foreign and national lawyers and investigators working in Kyiv and conflict-affected regions of Ukraine, supporting the OPG and regional prosecutors and investigators. Each MJT is in direct contact with regional prosecutors, enabling them to seek assistance from the team,” Wayne Jordash KC said.
The Ambassador emphasised the importance of joint efforts on Ukraine’s path to achieving justice for the heinous crimes committed during the war.
‘The international community supports Ukraine and will continue to do so as long as needed. Assistance in investigating and prosecuting war crimes committed is crucial for holding those responsible accountable. Belgium is actively engaged in this endeavour’ said Peter Van De Velde.
The Mobile Justice Teams operates as part of the Atrocity Crimes Advisory Group in Ukraine, which is funded by the European Union, UK FCDO, and the US Department of State.
