U.S. Expands China Forced Labour Blacklist – Dow Jones Risk Journal quotes Samir Goswami

In a recent Dow Jones Risk Journal article, Samir Goswami, Director of Forced Labour Programmes at Global Rights Compliance (GRC), commented on the latest expansion of the U.S. Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) Entity List.

The UFLPA restricts imports linked to forced labour in Xinjiang and places companies on notice that goods connected to listed entities will face heightened scrutiny. The latest additions come amid continued calls from Uyghur advocates and human rights organisations for stronger enforcement of measures addressing forced labour in global supply chains.

GRC welcomes the expansion, highlighting its significance both for companies monitoring supply-chain risks and for Uyghur communities that have long advocated for divestment from industries linked to exploitation.

“It’s also validating for Uyghur communities who have long advocated for divestment from China’s exploitative industries. We hope this is just the beginning for this administration,” Samir noted.
