GRC recently concluded a second series of introductory PEACE interview training sessions aimed at bolstering the Ombudsman Office’s capabilities.
The initiative provided a crucial platform for Ombudsman Office members to delve deeper into their roles, exchange experiences, and tackle personal challenges encountered in their vital work. Participants, driven by a shared dedication to protecting the welfare of returnees, upholding rights and fostering accountability, actively contributed to discussions, enriching the learning environment.
The sessions, facilitated by experts in international human rights standards and procedural fairness, focused on practical strategies and case studies designed to empower Ombudsman representatives in navigating complex scenarios effectively. Emphasising a participatory approach, the training encouraged collaborative problem-solving and the sharing of best practices among peers.
“We were encouraged to see such a high level of engagement from participants,” remarked James Hyatt – Senior Investigator and South Region Mobile Justice Team Lead. “The additional day allowed us more time for practical exercises to ensure that each participant left with actionable insights to enhance their interviewing skills.”
The success of the training underscores Global Rights Compliance’s ongoing commitment to building capacity within critical institutions like the Ombudsman Office, fostering a network of skilled professionals equipped to promote and protect human rights.
