Last week, two days of exchange, mutual learning, and inspiring perspectives took place at the #TextileDialogue kick-off in Berlin.
Our Legal Adviser Penny Karageorgi participated in the discussions, contributing to conversations on advancing human rights and environmental standards across the textile sector. Notably, the session pitched by Penny was the most voted in the room, leading to a dedicated discussion on Meaningful Stakeholder Engagement and Community-Based Monitoring (CBM). This session explored the different forms CBM can take and highlighted key benefits for brands engaging in such models.
A key takeaway from the session: progress in this space can only succeed through collaboration across businesses, policymakers, academia, and civil society. The new Dialogue and Impact for Sustainable Textiles (DST) aims to bring these diverse perspectives together, co-create solutions, and drive lasting improvements on the ground.
Hearing from leaders such as Johann Saathoff, Michael Krake, Fatima-Zohra Alaoui, and Camelia Hasan set the tone for ongoing dialogue, shared commitment, and joint responsibility.
We look forward to contributing to this next chapter.
