Lara Strangways

Lara Strangways is a legal expert in business and human rights, specialising in access to justice, remediation, and the protection of human rights defenders. As Senior Legal Adviser and Head of Business & Human Rights at Global Rights Compliance Foundation, she is responsible for the oversight and delivery of multiple multi-year, multi-jurisdictional projects. She works closely with partners —including industry bodies, multinational companies, INGOs, CSOs, and governments— to ensure the efficient and effective implementation of human rights programmes and remediation strategies.

A key pillar of Lara’s work is empowering vulnerable communities through community-based monitoring programs, ensuring that those most affected by business operations have a meaningful voice in identifying, reporting, and remedying human rights abuses. She has extensive experience in corporate accountability, responsible supply chains, and non-judicial grievance mechanisms, with a particular focus on the challenges faced by vulnerable groups in accessing remedy.
