GRC Participated in JustGroup’s Criminal Justice School

Maksym Vishchyk, Mobile Justice Team Lead and Legal Research Coordinator, delivered a training session at the Criminal Justice School organised by JustGroup.

During his session, Maksym explored how international humanitarian and human rights law interact in practice, including the scope and limits of human rights protections during wartime and the specific legal challenges that arise in situations of occupation.

“It remains pivotal to invest in and contribute to transformative legal education, teaching law students how to understand and apply international law intuitively, especially in complex issues of accountability efforts for international crimes.”  stated Maksym.

Bringing together law students from universities across Ukraine, alongside judges, prosecutors, investigators, civil society representatives and academics, the School created a space to examine some of the most pressing questions in criminal justice.

The event was organised by JustGroup with the support of the International Bar Association; the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills, Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, King Danylo University and Universitetet i Oslo; the Council of Europe and Azones in partnership with the Ukrainian Supreme Court and the High Anti-Corruption Court.
