20-21 May 2026, GRC will host its third Mock International Crimes Trial: Spotlight on the responsibility of high-level officials for the crime against humanity of deportation.
The event brings together investigators, prosecutors, defence counsel, victim counsel, experts, judges, and journalists from across Ukraine for a realistic simulation of an international crimes trial.
This year’s case focuses on occupation authorities’ coercive behaviour towards persons deemed hostile to Russian annexation and related population displacement outside occupied regions, allegedly constitutive of the crime against humanity of deportation. The underlying crime base will reflect a range of conduct across a wide geographical area and an extended time period. The accused will be a high-ranking senior official, with varying degrees of responsibility over occupation authorities and policies. The victims will be formed of diverse groups targeted by different acts, each with their own particularities to consider.
