On 7–8 September, Global Rights Compliance (GRC) brought together paralegals and project leads from partner organisations in Pakistan for a two-day Paralegal Training and Capacity Building Workshop in Murree, Punjab.
The workshop formed part of the project “Promoting and Advancing International Labor Rights in Pakistan”, implemented by GRC together with LBL, PILER, LEF, NTUF and HBWWF to strengthen access to remedy for workers in Pakistan’s garment sector.
Building on the first paralegal training held in 2025, this workshop combined refresher and advanced training with opportunities for participants to exchange field experiences, discuss practical challenges and consolidate lessons learned from the project implementation.
Sessions focused on recent labour law developments, navigating state grievance mechanisms, engagement with brands and other stakeholders, awareness building of business and human rights principles, strategies for tackling workplace harassment, and effective case handling and documentation.
Through expert-led sessions, group discussions and practical exercises, participants strengthened the skills needed to document labour rights violations, support affected workers and pursue effective pathways to remedy.
The workshop also provided an important space to reflect on the role of community-based monitoring and paralegal support in helping workers to access information, raise workers’ awareness, and seek practical remedies.
