Global Rights Compliance (GRC), together with the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), will host the session “A Conflict-Sensitive Approach to Corporate Water Stewardship” on 27 August as part of World Water Week 2026.
From 23 to 27 August, World Water Week will bring together the global water community under this year’s theme, “Water for People and Progress”, focusing on advancing a more just, equitable, and water-secure future for all, particularly the most marginalised, against the backdrop of climate change.
The panel will feature:
- Wayne Jordash KC, President, Global Rights Compliance;
- Eline Suijlen, Water Industry & Strategic Partnership Manager;
- Osnat Lubrani, Associate Researcher, Austrian Institute for International Affairs, and former UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator;
- Rebecca Burton, Deputy Director, Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance;
- Jessica Johansson, Programme Officer, Swedwatch.
The discussion will be moderated by Thomas Rebermark, Director at Swedish Water House at SIWI, with contributions from Simon Töpfer, Business and Human Rights Adviser at GRC, and Martina Klimes, Thematic Lead, Shared Waters Cooperation at SIWI.
During GRC and SIWI’s session, the discussion will examine the challenges of corporate water stewardship in conflict-affected and high-risk areas and contexts of weak governance, drawing on concrete examples and exploring potential solutions for how corporate actors can continue to engage meaningfully with water users and help ensure continued access to clean water.
