GRC Calls for Accountability for Mass Starvation to be Key Part of Yemen Negotiations

In a recent National Journal article regarding the use of starvation as weapon of war in Yemen, GRC were featured calling for accountability to be a principal part of the ongoing peace talks between Saudi-backed forces and the Houthis. Utilising our expert commentary, the article outlines the key difficulties in providing aid to Yemenis over the past 10 years of the conflict and the importance of accountability to maintaining peace.

GRC Partner and Starvation Accountability Project Lead Catriona Murdoch made the following call to action, urging stakeholders and policy-makers to act for accountability:

“Now, Murdoch and her colleagues are pushing for those who broke international humanitarian law to be held accountable. She said Washington has successfully pushed for accountability in conflict-ridden countries like Ethiopia and Ukraine, and now they could do the same for Yemen.”
